Executive Officers
Emile J. Geisenheimer
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Emile J. Geisenheimer has served as a Director of the Company since April 1990 and was appointed Chairman of the Board in June 1996. He was appointed Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of Spectranetics in May 2002 and served in this role through January 2003.
Mr. Geisenheimer is the founder and President of Madison Investment Partners, Inc., a private equity investment firm, and serves as a General Partner of each of its investment partnerships. Prior to forming Madison Investment Partners, he was general partner of Nazem and Company, a venture capital management firm, where he was responsible for developing the healthcare and medical device practices. Prior to joining Nazem and Company, Mr. Geisenheimer served in a number of senior executive positions with North American Philips Corporation (now Philips Electronics), including as President and CEO of Philips Electronic Instruments, Inc. and as a top marketing executive of Philips Medical Systems Inc.
Mr. Geisenheimer received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S., cum laude, in Economics from Louisiana State University. Mr. Geisenheimer served in the U.S. Air Force in Southeast Asia.
Guy A. Childs
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Guy A. Childs has served as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer since January 2003. In May 2002, Mr. Childs was appointed Acting Chief Financial Officer, a position he also held from May 1999 to December 1999. Since joining Spectranetics in September 1991, Mr. Childs has held various accounting and financial management positions, the most recent being Director of Finance, which he held from January 2000 to May 2002. Prior to joining Spectranetics, Mr. Childs worked for the public accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche, LLP serving as a senior accountant on various audit engagements in the financial services, healthcare and manufacturing industries.
Jason D. Hein
Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for both the Vascular Intervention
and Lead Management Business Units
Jason D. Hein is the Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing for both the Vascular Intervention and Lead Management Business Units. Prior to this role he was the Vice President and General Manager of the Lead Management Business Unit for close to three years, where he implemented several significant initiatives in the Lead Management business, including the creation of a separate sales organization and successful conclusion of the LExICon retrospective study, supporting positive clinical outcomes utilizing laser-assisted lead extraction. Before joining Spectranetics in July 2006, Mr. Hein spent seven years with Guidant’s Cardiac Rhythm Management division. He was marketing manager for Guidant’s tachyarrhythmia product line, where his team launched four new product families, which within two years represented the majority of the product mix and accounted for $1B in sales. Mr. Hein also held various sales positions within the company. Mr. Hein served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy for seven years and earned several awards, including a Joint Service Commendation Medal from the Secretary of Defense. Mr. Hein holds an MBA. He also has a Master of Science Equivalent in Nuclear Engineering from the Naval Nuclear Power School, and he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Shahriar (Shar) Matin
Senior Vice President, Operations, Product Development and International
In April 2010, Mr. Shar Matin was promoted to the position of Senior Vice President, Operations, Product Development and International. Thus, Mr. Matin is the Company’s principal operations officer, with responsibilities that include oversight of manufacturing engineering, operations, quality, regulatory affairs and product development. In addition, Mr. Matin retained his responsibilities for oversight of the Company’s international business. Mr. Matin joined Spectranetics in March 2007 as the Managing Director of Europe, Russia and Middle East business. He was then promoted to Vice President and Managing Director of International in March 2008. Before joining Spectranetics in March 2007, Mr. Matin was previously the Business Unit Director for Boston Scientific Corporation’s Cardiac Rhythm Management operations in China. Prior to that, he served in several executive, management and engineering positions with Guidant Corporation, including General Manager of Southeast Asia and Pakistan, Clinical Sales Representative in the U.S., and Group Leader for Vascular Intervention Manufacturing Engineering in Ireland. Mr. Matin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley with Honors and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
Roger W. Wertheimer
Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary and Vice President, Human Resources
Roger Wertheimer joined Spectranetics as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary and Vice President of Human Resources in March 2008. Mr. Wertheimer has over 24 years’ experience in the practice of law. Prior to joining Spectranetics he served as the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Independent Energy Partners, Inc., a technology and energy resource company with patented intellectual property and substantial mineral holdings, intending to develop the country's vast oil shale resources. Previously, for eight years he served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at Mail-Well, Inc., now Cenveo, Inc., a $2.6 billion publicly traded printing industry conglomerate, with operations throughout North America. For six years, Mr. Wertheimer also managed and lead the legal affairs of Pace Membership Warehouse, Inc., a $5 billion warehouse club business with over 26,000 employees. During his career, Mr. Wertheimer has also engaged in the private practice of law for his and other reputable law firms. Mr. Wertheimer earned his Bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Law, J.D., cum laude. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Ohio.
